Meet MPA’s New Executive Director, Susan Corrigan

Susan-head-shotfinal72The Board of Directors of the McLean Project for the Arts (MPA) is pleased to announce that Susan Corrigan has been appointed as MPA’s new Executive Director. Ms. Corrigan, a respected leader in the national and international nonprofit sector has provided her organizational development and management skills to nonprofit organizations to help improve performance, increase resources, and plan for sustained growth. Her career has included serving as the Executive Director, American Art Therapy Association, and the volunteer Board President of the Torpedo Factory Art Center, an Alexandria, Virginia community art center. From 1983 through 2005, Ms. Corrigan was the President, Founder, and Chief Executive Officer of Gifts In Kind International, the world’s leading charity in product philanthropy. Launched by Corrigan in 1983 with grant support from Lilly Endowment, Gifts In Kind International grew under her leadership to its ranking as the third largest charity in the United States with operations in more than 20 countries. She has held leadership positions at the United Way of America, Mental Health America, and the YWCA. In addition to her professional organizational development experience, Ms. Corrigan is a Carnegie Mellon University trained visual artist who began her artistic career as a filmmaker at the U. S. Department of Labor’s Media Resource Center. Ms. Corrigan continues to create art, to learn new media and to explore art galleries around the world.
