Artist Statement
Experimentation is integral to my work as an artist. I am willing to take risks in order to push my work further. Process is important and investigating new materials exciting. I take what I learn while creating a painting and push it further in the next. Climate change is the more subtle, and more important, underlying statement. In each one plants are striving to survive. The process of creating them starts similarly, but each is developed differently. “We’ve Got Rhythm” started similarly with many layers of paint and printing. Here I needed to reduce the background, overgrown with hydrangeas! Collaging string and paper helped, as did the graphite lines I decided to add.
