Artist Statement
They say that grief is like an ocean wave and that those grieving are like surfers. While the waves vary in size and roughness, over time you learn how to ride them, and they become manageable. The pain becomes manageable. But how do you learn to ride these waves? In my search for my own understanding, I paint my quiet. My paintings explore my introspection, my memories and my spirituality as a way to relate to and understand the world around me. Where nature transcends into the otherworldly, my intention is to show the universal qualities of life, death and memories.
