Artist Statement
I am intrigued by contrast, the play of dark against light, the pull of empty space against the inclination to fill it up, the placement of line and shape, the use of subtle texture, balance.
I work in clay. My pieces are a visual and tactile exploration of my materials and increasingly deal with surface and texture, directional shift and contrast, harmony and discord.
I work in sets. Individual compositions often become components in a pair or larger grouping as I consider the balance and relationship of one piece to another.
