MPAartfest Cancelled Due to Inclement Weather
With great disappointment, and after consultation with our Fairfax County Park Authority (FCPA) reps and local weather experts, MPA has made the difficult decision to cancel our 2022 MPAartfest, originally scheduled for this Sunday, October 2, in McLean Central Park.
At present, the weather forecast projects that 2-3 inches of rain from Hurricane Ian will inundate our area from Saturday, October 1 through Tuesday, October 4. The FCPA will not allow any type of vehicle, including golf carts, gaylords and food trucks, to operate in any grassy area of the park if the ground is saturated. That would mean any artwork, musical equipment and other event supplies would need to be hand-carried into the park.
Additionally, while not a safety issue, we are greatly concerned that the soaking rains expected may damage artwork–both that of our exhibiting artists as well as the art featured in our Children’s ArtWalk. Our event tents are mesh-sided to incorporate natural light, and can’t be altered at this point.
At present, we are actively investigating alternative fall art event options, with additional information to follow. Sincere thanks to all of our sponsors, participating artists and musicians, vendors, partners and the greater community for their support and understanding of this difficult decision. We hope to host an alternative event this fall that will engage our community.
Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns. Thank you again for your understanding and continued support.

Children’s Art Walk: Call for Entries

Limit one submission per student. Artwork may be any size 11×14 or smaller.
